A Science Playground for Children and Families

Welcome to the Science Playground, est. 2023!
Weather permitting, the playground is open on days the Discovery Center is open to the public from 10:30a.m. until 4:00p.m.
Use of the Science Playground is included with general admission tickets. Guests must enter and exit the playground through the building.
A member of the Discovery Center Education staff is present with an educational activity or demo, but also to monitor safety on the playground. A parent or guardian must also be present with children on the playground.
As phase II of the playground occurs throughout the season, the availability of the playground is subject to change. Closures or delays will be posted on this page and on our social media accounts.
Take home your very own bean and a bag and observe the seeds over time as they begin to sprout and grow. This experiment demonstrates the process of seed germination and plant development. As the beans grow, participants can track changes in size, root development, and the emergence of leaves, helping them understand the conditions necessary for plant growth, such as water, air, and light. It's a fun, visual way to explore the life cycle of plants.

This year, the Science Playground will see the addition of gardens, activity stations, and more! As we continue to expand the Playground, there are still opportunities to get involved!
